In this weeks online lecture we explored the various sources that we could be possibly earning an income from. There are a variety of options ranging from employment at a company, to freelance work, to crowd funding. I do see the benefits of working for a company, e.g solid hours, good pay check and financial security. Though I couldn't see myself being stuck in a strict routine.

I think its hard to envision my future career at this point in time, I know now that I don't want to spend my life working 9 - 5 in a cubicle, freelancing work definitely feels like the way to go. That being said, working in an office for starters seems like a more realistic approach. I think I would enjoy working in an office if it was a fun, free and informal environment. The idea of being surrounded by other creatives would be exciting, it would be ideal for networking and opening up doors to new opportunities. It would also be an amazing experience to learn from professionals and build my skills as a designer. I think working in a team for a small design studio would be the best possible outcome for this option.

My perfect scenario would be the ability to travel and work from my laptop over the internet, being my own boss, working only when i feel inspired or need the money. I could see myself using patreon, crowdfunding, and freelancing websites, that is, if anyone is willing to pay me for my art. Eventually, I plan to set myself up as a freelance artist/designer but it is a steep road ahead and I have a lot to learn before i'm capable of that.

99Designs is a freelancing graphic design website I have been playing with for a while now, if you are into graphic design I would recommend checking it out.

Also this article explains the work that goes in to developing a freelance career.
